After You've Been Accepted
Make your plans to arrive at the U of A well in advance of the start of term in order to get settled in Edmonton and to participate in Orientation programs offered by the GSA and the Department. We suggest 10-14 days before start of term.
All graduate students must make themselves aware of the contents of the graduate portions of the University Calendar and the Program Manual for Graduate Study in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Management.
Graduate students take full responsibility for their own programs. They must ensure that their program satisfies the requirements set out by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Students should validate course changes by reviewing their timetable on the
Bear Tracks web registration system
before the posted deadline.
In order to keep their program
active students must register in each term
. Effective September 2003, students who are admitted to MSc or PhD programs and who initially register as full-time must register full-time for the remainder of their program.
Students who fail to keep their program active as described above will be considered to have withdrawn from the program. If they wish to resume work on their program they must apply for readmission and a readmission fee will be charged in addition to the fees assessed in the regular manner.
Ethics and academic integrity training
is mandatory for all U of A graduate students who started their program on or after September 1, 2004. We encourage all new graduate students to register for ENGG 600 as soon in their program as possible. Each student is expected to complete the equivalent of at least eight (8) hours of structured academic activity to meet this requirement.
Master's students must obtain this minimum of 8 credit hours before submitting their thesis or report, and PhD students before taking their candidacy exam. The training includes two parts:
University-wide e-class course - after you have successfully completed this course, print off the "My Grades" section and submit to Gail in Mec E office for proof of completion.
ENGG 600
- Engineering Ethics and Integrity (only offered once per year in January terms - register at

)
